Forward Deployed Engineer

What you’ll do

• Sit inside the customer’s operation until you understand the problem the way they do — the close, the forecast, the replenishment decision, whichever one is actually costing them.
• Establish the first capability packs end to end: data in from NetSuite and the systems around it, the model, and the application the team works in.
• Take responsibility for the business result rather than the delivery — the number has to move, and you are the one who says whether it did.
• Enable the customer’s team to operate and develop the capability after you step back from it.
• Present the reasoning to the executives who sponsored the work: what was assumed, what was measured, what to do next.
• Bring what the engagement teaches back to the product as the requirement it is.

What you bring

• Engineering depth — Python, SQL, data modelling. You build the thing; you do not specify it for someone else to build.
• Finance and operations literacy: you can read a P&L, a close calendar and an inventory position, and tell which one is the problem.
• ERP exposure. NetSuite is a strong plus; any serious ERP means you know what an integration really costs.
• You present reasoning to executives and hold up under questioning from people who know their own numbers better than you do.
• A consulting, forward deployed engineering or value engineering background — you have owned a customer outcome before.

Working context

• Remote, full-time, with time spent inside the customer’s operation. Anywhere in the world, US preferred. Salary plus equity in the company.
• Reports to the founder, and works alongside business development on every engagement.
• First in this function at Frontier — you set how the engagement runs and what it is allowed to promise.
